Cop rushed to hospital with arm injury as police crackdown on anti-social behaviour near Scots park

A cop was hospitalised after a police crackdown on anti-social behaviour in a Scots town.

Some 15 charges were brought as officers found people allegedly drinking in public, alleged drug possession, resisting arrest and assaulting police over the weekend in Stirling.

One officer was taken to hospital with an arm injury which came amid the grim scenes in the Kings Park area.

Police tackled the gatherings in the park and have said that Operation Nippet, to tackle anti social behaviour, was due to run until May 9 and now patrols will be stepped up.

Inspector Lynsey Kidd at Stirling blasted the attack on the cop as ‘utterly disgraceful’.

She said: ‘”Operation Nippet continued over the weekend and saw police and partners deploy to Kings Park to tackle ongoing ASB (anti-social behaviour) issues.

“A total of 15 charges were made for a variety of offences including consuming alcohol in a public place, drugs possession, breaches of the peace, police assault and resisting arrest.

“Unfortunately, one of my officers was injured whilst executing their duties in relation to this enforcement activity and was subsequently taken to hospital where they received treatment for an arm injury.

“The behaviour of the individuals involved in this particular incident was utterly disgraceful.

“Any violence against officers is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated. It should never be seen as simply part of their job.”

She added that patrols would continue.
